Just in time for Mother's Day and our 60th anniversary, the rarely blooming, teal colored "Puya" is now opening up its first blooms in our succulent demonstration garden.
Puya is a succulent similar to yucca or aloe. It blooms only after a very dry winter. The last time it bloomed was 2013 and before that it had not bloomed in several years.
Puya is actually one of the few plants in the entire world to display teal in its flower color.
Puya likes a full sun location with good draining soil and little to no extra water. It's hardy to 18 degrees according to our grower. We will have Puya plants on hand after May 20th, but come in now to witness the spectacle while it blooms.
