Verna Mosquera is a first generation quilter, with a strong background in art. She has sewn since childhood and took her first class at a local quilt shop in 1996 and has been quilting literally everyday since.
Rob learned to quilt by trial and error, and definitely brings a masculine touch to this age old tradition. Blending his fabrics from deep in the ocean to way up in the heavens, Rob's quilts are 100% machine made and focus on applique work.
Rob has designed a fabric lines for Free Spirit Fabrics and Telegraph Road Studios, as well as appeared on "Simply Quilts," "Uncommon Threads," and "Behind the Seams." He also has an extensive line of Quilt Patterns for his original designs and a New Book -"Making Waves...The Adventures of a Surf Quilter."
She says, "For years I searched for the perfect medium of my artistic expression. With quilting I feel like I've finally come home. It is something I can do anywhere, often times carry with me. The palette of colors and the elements of design, both in fabric and patterns, seem endless. I know it will forever hold my interest."
A perfectionist by nature, the details of the quilt and its process are extremely important to Verna. She often focuses on taking extra steps if it means achieving better results in the finished product. She tries to pass that on to those that she teaches and also in her pattern design.
Quilting in the Garden runs from at 9:00 to 4:, Saturday and Sunday, September 24 and 25.
